Limit Order

A limit order tells your broker: only trade at my price or better. Set a $48 buy limit on a $50 stock and it fills only if the price drops to $48 — you're trading patience for price control. The catch: if the price never reaches your limit, the order just sits there unfilled.

Example: Place a $48 limit buy on a $50 stock; it executes only if the market dips to $48 or below.
